Sockets News

As Fall quickly approaches, I wanted to give an update of some of the goings-on here at Sockets:

Sockets Records is gearing up for a bunch of new releases including the Cornel West Theory's album Second Rome; Big Gold Belt's new 12" EP; and Nine 11 Thesaurus, the next iteration of Representing NYC's youth hip-hop albums. Some of the new music we've heard lately will find its way onto an end of summer Sockets mix. That should be released next week. The mix will include exclusive tracks from Aaron Thompson, Cornel West Theory, Edie Sedgwick, Metropolitan, Andrew Black, and more.

The Sonic Circuits festival is slated for late September and it should be an amazing week of performances. Make sure you keep up with the events surrounding the festival and fundraisers by checking out their website.

Lastly, as some of you may know, FatbackDC is a DJ crew that spins funk, soul, disco, r&b, afrobeat, and other choice jams every month here in DC. As one of the DJs I want to let everyone know about our next gig, The Very Big Fatback, at Washington, DC's 9:30 Club. It's going to be a jam-packed night with go-go titans Trouble Funk as well as NY's own Chico Mann, an amazing band mixing afro-Cuban, electro, and afrobeat styles.
